I just had three pairs of pants start to wear out or get rips in them, so I’ll be at the stores pretty soon. Here in CDMX, you definitely see a lot of looser/wider clothes on the streets and on the metro!

(1) the song “Baggy trousers” by Madness, a classic from early 80s, funny and enjoyable https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dc3AovUZgvo&ab_channel=Madness

(2) there’s a traditional, rural culture spanning from Argentina, Paraguay and Southern Brazil (where I live) called “Cultura Gaúcha”, and the traditional trousers are the “bombacha”. It’s an oversize trousers, ideal for dealing with cattles.
It’s not restricted to traditional Gaúchos activities and events: you often see people walking in the streets wearing the full traditional suit, or only some clothes

I like bombacha and I oftentimes I wear it, both because it’s comfortable and it represents my link to the region I live in

And second, I keep clothes forever. So I’m guessing that I have plenty of pieces of clothing that are perfect for this new trend.” That makes me smile ^^
