It’s even true in team sports. The Los Angeles Dodgers are going to baseball’s World Series this week, and it’s because they can afford to spend the most on players. Basketball is probably the worst offender, with lots of dynasties and “dream teams” that shut out most other teams in the league.

The next generation of top players is training this days to beat this players.

You know, I was really close to including Joao Fonseca’s name in the episode, but I just couldn’t find a way to work it in. But you are right! He might be the Novak Djokovic of this rivalry, coming later but shaking things up!

Yeah, and it’s a similar dynamic with team sports – if the best teams are always at the top, it can provide good stories and please the fans of the best teams. But all the teams deserve a shot at winning, in my opinion!

It is very important to have some brilliant players because it pushes/encourages other players to increase their tennis-level.
I disagree about the shinning players. All players have played or are playing in this situation; it is a learning process, and playing with good or exceptional players can work very well.

See Joao Fonseca from Brazil. Remember this name as well! If everything works out, he will become one of them.

Honestly, I don’t usually follow tennis, but I understand the excitement of having familiar rival because I played basketball in college. In sports, repeated confrontations always create drama, like when two strong teams meet frequently. This makes it easier for fans to follow and remember the names, but this also makes the tournament a bit predictable.
