Ah great now I understand. Just a couple tweaks to this one: “I like the essence of the poem, which I understand to mean that one should hold onto his own principles, leave all failures or regrets behind no matter what, and move on.”

Maybe i should rephrase the latest sentence to make the meaning more clear somewhat like that: “I like the essence of the poem, which i understand that one should hold on to his own principles, live all failures or regrets behind, no matter what, and move on.

Couple things … “I like the essence of the poem” is better. I’m not sure what you mean by “move on” in this case … here we would typically use “move on” to leave something behind.

I like the quintessence of the poem, which i understand that one should hold on to his principles and move on, no matter what.

That’s correct. You can also say, “We’re moving on from the COVID era.”

I think this is a great example. In this case, it might sound a bit more natural to say, “move on from”: “…it’s important to know how to move on from each stage.”
