“just in case” is perfect. Instead of “for the recent attempts,” you can say, “due to the recent attempts”.

Perfect … “rucksack” is not a common word, though. I would choose “backpack” or simply “bag”. Here in Mexico City, people always seem to have a very light sweater or jacket available. It never gets too cold, but it does get cool enough to need another light layer in the evening.
