With “the luxury of”, you need to state what is the specific advantage that European teams have. I don’t know the situation, but I’m guessing it might be something like this: “Teams from Europe have the luxury of a extra rest because teams from South America are about to finish their regular season.” You always have to state the thing that is the luxury.
