Thanks, Jeff. How would you pronounce the word “clogged”?

Ah perfect example!

The only modification I would make is with your verb tenses at the end. See bold changes:

Say this if you want to indicate you’re successful so far: “…so that it filters the food remains out and our kitchen sink has never gotten clogged since.”
Say this if you mean that the strainer is intended to prevent this in the future: “…so that it filters out the food remains and so that our kitchen sink never gets clogged again.”

We resolved this issue by putting “strainer” on so that it filters the food remains out and our kitchen sink never gets clogged again.

Perfect example. A couple of tips to make it sound more natural: “The factory has to filter out all of the harmful particles before releasing gas into the atmosphere.”

Chimney tends to be used more for the chimney in a home. In a factory, it might be called a “smokestack,” but that would be for a power plant or something that releases a lot of gas. The more natural way to say it would simply be “releasing gas into the atmosphere.”

When we talk about things suspended in gas or fluid that can cause damage to your health, it’s common to describe them as “harmful particles”. You could also say “toxins”. Both of those are ways to describe things that are harmful to humans/animals if they ingest them or breathe them in.
