This is a good time to use “fade away” but we don’t usually use “fade away” plus an object like “the music.” We usually say “the music fades away.” So here you can say, “One way to end a song is to let the sound gradually fade away.” Or, “One way to end a song is for the music to fade away at the end.”

My strategy to avoid this problem is to make the same New Year resolutions every year.

Great example of fade away! You can say, “The colors of this picture, which was taken in the 70s, have faded. The same has happened to my memories of this period of my life. They have also faded away as time has passed.”

Perfect use of “fade away.” I liked them as a kid, but I don’t anymore. In the early 2000s, poker was super popular and I never got into it because I didn’t like to bet on cards. So I missed a whole wave … but now, I don’t hear of a lot of people playing cards anymore.

“Day by day” is correct … I wouldn’t say ‘money’ can fade away, but maybe “savings” can: “Day by day, my savings is fading away.” There’s a much less common expression, which would be good here: “dwindling away.” “My savings is dwindling away” … meaning, slowly moving toward zero.
