Great example of catch on. When introducing movies, you can say simply: “…hair in the movie ‘Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind,’ where Kate…”

I remeber that first time I saw acid colored hair in the movie named “Eternal Sunshine of the spotless Mind” where Kate Winslet was changing colors of her hair according to her inner mood. Her appearence – acid hair color – seemed extremely eccentric at the time when I first saw the movie in the mid 2000s, more than 15 years ago. Now my reaction is much more moderate. I really think we should give those teens some slack and not judge them too severely.

Wow, is that really true? You would want to say, “… is catching on with teenage girls.”

Hey Mario – so nice to have you here and welcome to Plain English! I’m not a huge fan of mullets either, but I’m starting to see them more and more now!

I think instead of “an expression of culture,” you might say, “a form of expression that has caught on around the world.” But a great use of catch on in the past tense!

In this case, I think you can simply say, “Digital wallets have been catching on” or “Digital payments have been catching on.” Otherwise a great example!

Great example of “catch on” and “instead of” is correct too. I would just delete the word “the” before Starbucks: “…instead of Starbucks coffee due to the international sanctions.”

Is also interesting the consideration about the metaverse of Zuckerberg. Let hope that that is not our future of loneliness.
Thank you, this is my first time on this platform. I hope I will improve my English .
see you
