“make ends meet” and “weather the storm” are correct. You would not say, “cash in on” belongings or property per se. In this case, you can simply say “sell” some belongings or property. You can use “cash in on” if you have a house or piece of land that has gone up in value and you want to get money for it.

I could have explained this better in the lesson, but you would use “cash in on” for things that have value that you have not yet gotten money for. So, the example of popularity…someone can cash in on their popularity if that person is popular and has not yet made money off their popularity. You can cash in on the increase in value of a house if the home’s value has gone up since you have owned it (you got value but have not accessed it in the form of money yet).

But you can’t really “cash in on” a piece of property you own, unless that has gone up in value since you bought it.

I’m not saying it correctly, am I? I rewrite: The band cashed in on their greatest hits album, with sales up 5%.

This is great. Just one small edit: “…by releasing a greatest hits album”
